Fiji and small Update

Hello everyone!

As luck would have it, there's beautiful weather in Fiji and I'm headed there tomorrow, for two weeks. I'm excited! :-)

School is now over for the semester for me. I've been working on and off with a professor of mine to make some extra cash, and otherwise I've just been a lazy bum.

It's getting very warm here in Brisbane, but the malls still know that Christmas is coming. I can't believe how long they have had decorations up; since weeks before Halloween.

Halloween here was good. It was nice to be able to dress in something fun because it was warm. I dressed up as a sexy present. Hehe... I hope you guys had a good Halloween.

I just wanted to make this post short and sweet because I have tons of other things to do and I know that if I continue I'll start to ramble, and no one will want to read this.... so I bid you all farewell for now. I'll see you soon (in the grand scheme of things I will see most of you soon). I'll be back in Brisie in a few weeks... don't be a stranger... feel free to write me... and I'll try to do the same when I get back.

Take care and be good. Find happiness in all you do.

Caines Zoo and Aboriginal Cultural Center (more of the first days of OZ)

Australia; the place with the deadliest things. Guess I figured bears didn't eat me in Alaska.. I should step it up a notch. :-)

The Aboriginal Cultural Center.

I thought the land was beautiful!

This guy was amazing!!

Some spear throwing action goin' on. :-)

The targets for the spears. I actually hit the orange kangaroo in the front there. I was pretty proud. Hehe...

Trying to throw a boomerang... "trying" being the key word. :-) It didn't work very well, but it was fun. :-)

First few days of OZ

I spent my first weekend here in Australia in a place called Caines. As you can see from these pictures a day of it was spent at the Great Barrier Reef and relaxing on the boat while heading to the next place to see the reef. :-)Gosh was the reef BEAUTIFUL!!

Me and mr. Jelly Fish. There were tons of these guys everywhere! They were fun to play with though. :-)

I saw this Sea Turtle while I was swimming around. It was awesome! I also saw a few sharks, but wasn't quit quick enough to get thier pictures. The Tiger Shark I saw was way cool!

Pictures from least recent to most recent

A fountain at the Roma Street Parklands.

Because of one of the worst droughts that Queensland has seen in almost a hundred years, they have either quit using fountains or the fountains use recycled water. Pretty interesting. This sign was found at Roma Street Parklands, where they are using the water from their lake to water their plants.

Pretty flower at Roma Street Parklands.

Yummy food at muli-cultural night!

Postgrad muli-cultural night. The crew. :-)

Two of my flat-mates and I at the end of the semester BBQ. Dianne, me, and Zuben.

Post grads at the Res Life Simi-formal.

Me, Abus (the grad RA), and Asha at the Simi-formal.

Some beautiful pictures were taken at Collengatta Beach... about an hour south of Brisbane.

Me at the beach. I was down the coast visiting my friend Stan who's from NYC.

Give up

I give up trying to update the pictures from Europe. I'll get back to that someday. I know all the people that even glance at this journal (if there is anyone left). Is waiting for pictures from Oz and now that the first semester is over I have time to do that. So I hope you enjoy them. :-)

Jan. 29th Athens

The room I stayed in... looks nice, but really I had a horible night. Cold and noisy, yuck!!
The Parthenon.
A theatre below the Acropolis that is used to this day by artists such as Elton John etc. (I can't remember the other names I heard).
Entrance to the theatre.

Me and the city of Athens.
Entrance to the Acropolis.
Athens is a HUGE city. It was named after the Greek Goddess Athena. The story goes that when the city was first being named and the temple was being built the Greek Gods Posseidon and Athena gave gifts to the city. Posseidon took his trident and created a spring from which water came endlessly and Athena gave an Olive tree. Since the Olive tree was a sign of peace and was created not by a weapon the citizen decided to name the city after Athena; Athens.
The stone hill where Saint Paul preached from.
Lazy stray guard dog at the Acropolis. :-)
Marble column of the temple of Athena Nike.

At the Parthenon. :-) The people I met here helped me to decide where I was going to stay for the night. Yay!
The Temple of Olympian Zeus.
Theatre of Dionysus which used to hold over 5,000 people. I thought it was pretty cool.
The Erechtheion of the Acropolis. The six maidens supporting the roof of the porch are the Caratids.
One of the little streets I got lost on. At least it's a cool little street that you could see the Parthenon from.
This the a subway station in Athens. You can't really tell, but across the way when they found ruins in the subway as they were building it they built around the ruins and put up glass where the ruins are so that everyone can see them. It's super cool!!
My new room at the Electra Palace. Yes, I'm pampering myself. I deserve it after the last place I stayed.
Tourist Athens is much nicer than the actual city.
The cool litte cafe I had lunch at and talked to some American exchange students that are speninding a semester in Greece and a semester in Itally.
