My travel charm makes me happy. It's a beautiful gold chain with a gold charm of the saint of travel on it. My friend Deanne gave it to me years ago when I left Australia after my masters degree. It's been working wonders ever since. I think partly because I feel calm, relaxed, and happy when I have it, but I do believe that it also brings me a bit of luck. Take for example the events that have happened in the last few days.
I had accidentally left my necklace at my aunt and uncle's home and on that day, as nice as it was during most parts of the day and as lucky as I was that night, I was still mugged. And as you know, that was traumatic! The following day when I filed my police report, a statement that was suppose to take 20 minutes, took an hour and 20 minutes. I just happened to get a field officer that could barely find the "g" for "google" on the keyboard. The guy was nice enough, but I almost asked if he wanted me to type up the statement. (I could rant on for pages about that, but I'll save you from suffering.) After a wonderful evening with Lucy and her housemates.
I was feeling a bit better. The next day however the zipper on the front of my purse broke after having a nice day in Melbourne's shopping area looking at really pricey cameras!
Later that day, thanks to my wonderful Aunt Martha, I received my necklace! After that, I have a very wonderful dinner with Lucy and my new made friends. We laughed so much! We ate at some restaurant my friends call "the green restaurant" because of it's green walls. Then most of the day today was spend playing with uber-cute kittens! I also did a little purse shopping at the local second-hand store right around the corner from Lucy's place and found a good going out purse for $5 Aussie.
Tonight the trip to the airport went extremely smooth. The bus driver even said I have a very happy and positive aura around me. No problem with check in, even though I was a few kilo over. Then the flight was nearly empty; I had two empty seats beside me and three behind me, and the flight attendants were super nice!
Needless to say I'm glad that the flight went well, and happy to have my Saint to watch over me. :)
I'm also happy to be in Brisbane and to see my friends Dani and Matt. Today the search starts for a job and a place to live. Don't be to concerned if the number of journal posts starts to diminish for a little while. That's just me being busy.
