My mom suggested that I skip the last few weeks and move on. Let's just say it's been a challenging time with jerk landlords and a plethora of holidays (at least it felt like a plethora).
Thankfully however I have amazing friends, I am new in a proper apartment with a proper kitchen, a little living room area, a bedroom, and a sun-room that doubles as a walk in closet of sorts. The wall between my place and two of my neighbors is paper thin, so I'll have to be careful what I say about the neighbors in my apartment, but other than that the place is pretty alright.
It's walking distance to the Queensland Museum where I work and the neighbors in unit 1 are a really nice Hungarian couple. My gramps was Hungarian. It's quite nice to be able to relate to them in that way. I've already spent a fair amount of time with them and had a wonderful dinner and movie with them Monday night. Hopefully I'm helping them to improve their English, because they'll have to take a test to get permanent residency. I believe they are here on a skilled workers visa at the moment.
I can't wait to get my first pay check so that I can start to repay my neighbors and friends for being so wonderful and amazing. I wouldn't have made it through the last few weeks without them.
I only have a little less than two weeks to wait until Brad gets here. That will be a nice change. I can't wait to show him around.
I went to the mall yesterday to do some banking and look for some books at the library. As I was wondering around I saw a sale on at Borders... this is the second and last book store to go out of business at Garden City Shopping Center. The sight of it was quite sad... it makes me wonder if any books.. other than those in the library will survive the digital age. Bookstores were such a cool place to hang out too.
I leave you with this photo:
