After working a full day on monday, I still had to pack and get final details from my friend, Zeb, in Japan, before meeting my ride to the airport at 3:40am on Tuesday. My flight was scheduled to leave at 6:20am on Tuesday morning, and unfortunately the first train didn't arrive at the airport until close to 6am... I was forced to find another mode of transportation. After being taken aback by the $40 AUD taxi/shuttle fee to the airport, I was happy to find that if I just walked 5 minutes up the road at the early hour of 3:30am, that I could catch a Coachtrain the airport for $16 AUD. Sure it took almost an hour to get there when it normally would only take half that, and sure it was at a stupid hour, but you get what you pay for, and had I not been on that shuttle I may not have met Momo, my new Japanese friend. Her and I spent the 5 hour layover in Caines together, she's returning to Japan after a year on a working holiday visa. We're already making plans to meet up in Toyko for her to show me around. First thing's first though, she's going to help me get on the train to meet Zeb at the Base in Yokota. It's all very exciting!! Momo and I even noticed that being in the international terminal in Caines felt like we were half way there with all the Japanese writting on the signs around the airport.
P.S. Can you believe I got stuck sitting next to someone who is more chatty than I am on my 8 hour flight to Toyko?! I can hardly believe it myself!
