Today was my first day in "the city". I was using this day to figure out if I could get around the city and to see a friend I haven't seen in 3 years. I met Chris originally at UAF freshman year. We played a bit of pool together... oddly enough that is all we did together maybe for a couple of hours a week. He was in all the honors classes and always bogged down with work to do. I have no idea how we kept in contact.
Anyhow at about 11am Aunt Jane helped me get on a bus to Port Authority at 42nd and 8th street. It was about $5.50 to go about 45 minutes to "the city", not bad. Once at Port Authority it was a short walk to Times Square and the theater district. Took lots of pictures there, which I hope to get up soon. I was there to see where I would be getting tickets for the play "Wicked".
From there I walked down 8th, 7th, Broadway and maybe 6th all the way to Central Park where I hot dog and went passed the zoo. I didn't go into the zoo, but I did see some seals and a Grey Squirrel, and I got a smashed penny for my mom. When I called my mom to ask if she wanted the penny she asked who I was there with. "No one". I was fine as long as I looked like I knew what I was doing and where I was going. :-) After that I started to follow 5th street. I walked a long way and hit 5th ave.'s museum mile.
I'll have to finsh this entry later.. it's off to the city for me! :-)
